My journey, like the most captivating stories, begins not with a step, but with a foundation laid in the rich soils of North Carolina, nurtured by the hands of strong, hardworking women.
Raised by my great-grandmother while my mother worked tirelessly in New York to provide for us, I was enveloped in an environment that was as challenging as it was nurturing.
My great-grandmother, an educator and homemaker, alongside her sisters—also educators and homemakers—emboldened me to reach beyond the stars. Their voices, echoing the wisdom of generations, instilled in me a belief that I could be anything, do anything, and achieve everything.
Evangeline Hunter, my great-grandmother’s niece, a beautician with a spirit as indomitable as her talent, taught me to never settle for second best. These women, my earliest mentors, placed me at the forefront of every stage, pushing me into the spotlight of potential, whispering the secrets of success: education, implementation, and exposure.
Though our pockets were not deep, my heart was filled with riches beyond measure. I lived the paradox of being the “poorest little rich girl on the south side of the tracks,” a testament to the abundance that love, determination, and community can provide.
2BusyNot2Travel® is more than a business; it is a tribute to these incredible women who shaped my life. It embodies the lessons of my great-grandmother and her sisters, of Evangeline Hunter, and of every woman who has ever dared to defy the odds,
My mission—to empower busy women executives of color over 40 to rediscover, rejuvenate, and relive their authentic lives through travel—is deeply rooted in my heritage. It is a legacy of love, empowerment, and resilience passed down through generations.
As I share this story, it is not just my voice that speaks, but the voices of all the strong women who have come before me. Their spirit, their determination, and their love are woven into the very fabric of 2BusyNot2Travel®, driving us to say with conviction, “We got this, Sis!”
